1). An Outstanding Researcher.

In year 2009, Elochukwu Ezenekwe pioneered a research on the link between climate change and the worsening gully erosion and landslide activities prevalent in the Nanka areas of Nigeria’s South-Eastern state of Anambra.

This research, which received material support from the secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and other renowned bodies, showed with above average confidence that climate change is the major driving factor of the gully erosion activities. 

2). Elochukwu Ezenekwe As An Internationally Recognized Climate Change Expert.

The research work by Elochukwu Ezenekwe led to his selection by the United Nations (UN) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as Expert Reviewer to assist in the work of the global climate change organization.

From Nigeria, he would join experts from other regions of the world to review the IPCC reports and also contribute knowledge of local realities of climate change to support the worlds climate change body.

3). As An Environmental Activist.

Not letting the knowledge and lessons from his research work end up in the bookshelf and library, Elochukwu has been engaged in environmental activism to demand climate justice for the people in South Eastern Nigeria who suffer most from the impacts of climate change via worsening gully erosion and landslide activities.

4). Recipient of the United States Government Award.

For his outstanding work on climate change and the environment, Elochukwu received a Fellowship Award from the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), a program of the United States government. The Award qualifies him as a Fellow of the West Africa Regional Leadership Center (RLC). 

5). Alumnus of the Federal University of Technology Minna, and the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka.

Elochukwu Ezenekwe is an Alumnus of the Federal University of Technology (FUT) Minna, where he obtained a bachelors degree in Agricultural and Bio-resources Engineering. 

He is also an alumnus of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka where he obtained advanced degree in Environmental Engineering. 

6). Experienced in Project Planning And Management.

Elochukwu Ezenekwe is seasoned in project planning and management, all thanks to his dedication to the various programs that he has directed over the years. This includes the Sustainable Aquaculture Supply in West and Central Africa (SASWeCA) project, the Climate Change Education and Action Program (CLEAP), the Clean Energy Program (CEP), the Coronavirus Crisis Response Program (CCRP), among others.
